West Beacy Writing Group

We meet once a fortnight at Ecoburbia to do some guided writing exercises, share ideas, learn from the work of top authors, and talk about the world of reading and writing.

Alan Hancock leads the group, with the aim of supporting anyone who writes or wants to write, whether beginner or experienced writer.

You’ll learn an approach that will help you go deeper with your writing and create pieces that hold a reader.

When – 6.30 to 8.00 pm Weds 15 October and then every two weeks on Wednesdays

Where – Ecoburbia

Who – RSVP to Alan 041339060 – you need to confirm each session that you are attending

What – Bring A4 notebook and pen/pencil, and any snacks you’d like to share

Cost - $5 to cover costs of photocopying etc

Alan is a published author and script-writer whose work has been produced by the BBC and ABC RN.

Bike and Brunch – Ride to Woodman Point with Fiona
Saturday October 25th 2025 8.30am at South Beach
Meet at the new South Beach toilet block 0830 .. Cruise down the coastal bike path all the way through Coogee, Woodman Point Regional Park towards the WP Boat Ramp, Woodman Point (swim?) and back along the coastal path ending up at Bistro 21, South Beach, for Brunch or liquid refreshments. approx 3hrs. West Beacy Bunch Bake Off with Belinda
Sunday November 9th at 3.30pm (judging at 4pm)
Join us on the front lawn of 40 Moran Court for afternoon tea and a cuppa. Enter your baking to become WBB’s Baking Champion. Sweet or savoury entries accepted for one adult and one kids champion. Special guest judge. BYO mug for a cuppa. Call Belinda for more info 0402 357 099

West Beacy Bunch Fundraiser for St Pats (at Ecoburbia Open Garden)
Saturday November 15th 10am – 4pm
Ecoburbia’s gardens are open for the day and the West Beacy Bunch will be providing a cuppa and goodies, and collecting donations for St Pats. Help is needed to make some baked goods and on the day to serve, do dishes etc. Volunteer times will be 10-12, 12- 2 and 2-4. Please contact Helen on 0448 511 475 if you can help out, either with some baking or on the day.

Sustainable Gift Giving workshop with Shani
Sunday November 23rd 3pm at Ecoburbia
Want to give gifts people actually want, without the waste? This workshop is part brainstorm, part hands-on making. We’ll start by thinking about the kinds of gifts people really value, then dive into creative, earth-friendly options. You’ll even get to make some – herb salt, a T-shirt bag, gift vouchers, a succulent in a teacup. Bring an old T-shirt, a teacup or mug, and a small jar – we’ll turn them into treasures. Christmas Dinner and Carols Night
Sunday Dec 14th 5pm Salentina Ridge Park
This is one for all your family and friends! Come down to Salentina Ridge Park and enjoy a picnic, Christmas Carols and a special performance by the Honey Bunch choir. Please bring along anyone you like and show off our West Beacy Bunch community. There will be some craft activities and rumour has it Santa will be coming.
This year we will have a pot luck dinner, so please bring along something to share. You will need your own crockery, drinks and a picnic blanket. No need to RSVP – just come along.
